Why this role exists

Vertis Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service.

The successful candidate will undertake ADI-R developmental assessments as part of a multidisciplinary autism diagnostic pathway for adults. Working closely with ADOS-2 assessors and other clinicians, you will contribute to diagnostic formulation, multidisciplinary decision-making, diagnostic feedback, and post-diagnostic support.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a clinically led, governance-focused service dedicated to delivering high-quality, person-centred and neurodiversity-affirming autism assessments.

About the Service

The Adult ASD service is one of four Mental Health & Neurodevelopmental Services offered by Vertis Health:

  • Adult ADHD – assessment and ongoing clinical reviews, with medication titration delivered under appropriate prescribing governance and shared care with GPs where agreed.

  • Adult ASD – diagnostic assessment pathway delivered through an MDT model.

  • Children and Young People (CYP) ADHD – an assessment and diagnosis pathway (with onward treatment and medication pathways subject to commissioning and wider system arrangements).

  • Children and Young People (CYP) ASD – a diagnostic assessment pathway delivered through a multidisciplinary model, aligned to national guidance and local commissioning arrangements.

This post forms part of Vertis Health’s Multidisciplinary Adult ASD diagnostic pathway.

The ADI-R clinician will work alongside a clinician undertaking the face-to-face ADOS-2 assessment. Diagnostic decisions will be reached collaboratively through multidisciplinary discussion, integrating developmental history, clinical information, available collateral evidence and direct observational findings.

The role requires a clinician who is confident working autonomously within their professional competence while also valuing collaborative diagnostic decision-making and clear clinical governance.
